InSync Terms of Use
Effective date: October 5, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and InSync, which is run by Cal Huesman ("InSync," "we," "us"), and cover your use of the InSync app. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use InSync.
1. Who can use InSync
You must be at least 13 years old to use InSync. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use InSync only with a parent or guardian's permission.
2. Your account
You're responsible for your account and for activity on it. Keep your sign-in methods secure and tell us right away if you think someone else has accessed your account. You can delete your account anytime in the app.
3. Pairing and shared content
InSync lets you pair with one partner, use one-phone mode with a guest name, or use it on your own ("Just me"). When you pair, some of your activity is shared with your partner, as described in our Privacy Policy. Only pair with someone you trust. If you use one-phone mode and later add a second phone with a code, the person who joins is asked whether they're your guest. If they say yes, they take the guest's place and can see the history from your one-phone days (meals, ratings and photos), and the guest's name, food rules and allergies fill in their profile where it's empty. If they say no, you two start fresh and that history stays yours. A second phone joining Just me always starts fresh. You can unpair anytime; shared meal history from your time together stays visible to both of you.
Pairing safety: you can unpair at any time, for any reason, and you don't have to tell the other person first. After you unpair, they can't see anything new you do in InSync. Only add someone else's information (like a guest's name, food rules, or allergies) or photos of other people with their OK.
4. Your content
You own the content you add, such as meal photos, profile photos, notes, and ratings ("Your Content"). You give us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content only to operate InSync for you and your partner. You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to share it.
Don't upload content that is illegal, harmful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes anyone's rights, and don't upload photos of people who haven't agreed to it. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Misuse, disrupt, reverse engineer, or try to get unauthorized access to InSync or its systems
- Use InSync to harass, spam, or harm anyone
- Use bots or automated tools to access InSync
- Use InSync for anything illegal
6. Cooking safety and assumption of risk
InSync gives you recipes, cooking steps, timers, temperatures, and meal suggestions as general guidance only. Cooking involves real risks: heat, open flames, knives, hot oil, and raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs can cause burns, cuts, fires, and foodborne illness.
You are responsible for how you buy, store, handle, prepare, cook, and eat food. That includes handling raw foods safely, cooking meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs to a safe internal temperature (checked with a food thermometer), keeping an eye on your stove, oven, and other appliances, and supervising children in the kitchen.
Eating raw or undercooked meat, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs raises your risk of foodborne illness, especially for young children, older adults, pregnant people, and anyone with a weakened immune system. Take extra care when cooking for them.
Some recipes use alcohol (for example wine or beer in a sauce). Cooking doesn't always remove all of it. Follow the laws where you live, and if you're under the legal drinking age or avoiding alcohol, skip it or use a swap.
Temperatures, times, and doneness cues in recipes are guides, not guarantees. Stoves, ovens, pans, and ingredients vary, so food may need more or less time than shown.
By using InSync, you agree that you cook at your own risk.
7. Timers and notifications
Timers and notifications are a helper only. They may not go off, or may go off late, for example when your phone is on silent or in a Focus mode, the battery is low, the app has been closed, notifications are turned off, iOS limits them, or because of a bug. Never leave cooking unattended, and don't rely on a timer alone. You're responsible for watching your food.
8. Allergies and diets
Recipes, ingredients, dietary labels (like vegetarian, gluten-free, or nut-free), and allergen info in InSync are provided for convenience only and may be incomplete or wrong. Diet filters, allergy filters (including allergies you add yourself), and "foods to avoid" help narrow suggestions, but they are not a guarantee. They filter the meals InSync suggests to you; recipe search and your lists still show every recipe, with a warning on any that conflicts with your rules or allergies. They only check the ingredients each recipe lists, so they can miss an allergen that isn't listed, goes by another name, or is inside a packaged ingredient. Recipes can be mislabeled, ingredients and brands vary, and cross-contact can happen.
Always read ingredient and package labels yourself, every time, especially if you or anyone you cook for has a food allergy or dietary restriction. InSync is not medical or allergy advice and does not guarantee that any recipe is free of an allergen. If you or someone you cook for has a severe allergy, don't rely on InSync to keep you safe. You are responsible for what you cook and eat.
9. Recipe info, nutrition, and photos
Nutrition info (calories, protein, carbs, and fat), prep and cook times, and difficulty levels in InSync are estimates and may be inaccurate. Nutrition can vary by brand, portion size, and preparation. It is not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Talk to a qualified professional before making changes to your diet.
Recipe photos are AI-generated illustrations to give you an idea of the finished dish. They aren't photos of the exact recipe, and your results will look different.
10. Grocery lists
Grocery lists are made from recipe ingredients to save you time. They may be incomplete or have the wrong amounts, and items marked "probably have" are only a guess. Check the recipe and your kitchen before you shop.
11. Ask the chef (AI cooking help)
Ask the chef answers come from AI. It only answers cooking questions. They can be wrong, incomplete, or unsafe. Never use Ask the chef for allergy, medical, or food-safety decisions. Check anything important yourself and use your own judgment.
12. Subscriptions (InSync+)
InSync+ is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple's App Store, offered monthly or yearly. When InSync+ is required, the app can't be used without it. One subscription unlocks InSync+ for you and the person you're paired with, for as long as you stay paired. If you use InSync on your own (Just me) or on one phone, your subscription covers you, and it covers the person you pair with if you add a second phone later. If you subscribe:
- New subscribers get a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when the free trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings
- Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription
- Purchases are made through Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com
- Deleting your InSync account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your Apple ID account settings to stop being charged
- InSync+ isn't available through Apple Family Sharing
- If you unpair or switch partners, the person you were paired with loses the InSync+ access your subscription gave them (and you lose any access theirs gave you)
Prices and features may change. We will give notice of price changes as required by Apple and applicable law. We may offer InSync+ free of charge to some people at our discretion.
13. Our app
InSync, including its design, mascots, recipes, text, and software, belongs to us and our licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple's App Store rules. Open-source components are covered by their own licenses, listed in the app.
14. Changes and availability
We may change, pause, or stop any part of InSync, or any feature, at any time. We may update these Terms; the effective date at the top shows when they last changed, and if the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app. Continuing to use InSync after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Ending your use
You can stop using InSync and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if needed to protect InSync or its users.
16. Third-party links and services
InSync may link to or work with services we don't run, such as Apple, Google, and websites you open from the app. We aren't responsible for them, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
17. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve InSync without owing you anything.
18. Disclaimers
InSync is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't promise that InSync will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any recipe, match, nutrition estimate, timer, grocery list, AI answer, or suggestion will be accurate or suitable for you. You use InSync at your own risk.
19. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, InSync will not be liable for any illness, injury, allergic reaction, or property damage that results from preparing or eating food, or from using recipes or features in the app (including timers, grocery lists, filters, and Ask the chef), or for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim related to InSync is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
20. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold InSync harmless from claims arising from Your Content or your violation of these Terms, to the extent allowed by law.
21. Apple
These Terms are between you and InSync, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for InSync or its content, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it. If InSync fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for investigating or defending any third-party claim that InSync infringes intellectual property rights. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
22. Informal dispute resolution
If you have a problem with InSync, please contact us first at insyncapp.help@gmail.com and tell us what's wrong. We'll try to work it out with you informally. If it isn't resolved within 30 days, either of us can take it further as described in "Governing law" below.
23. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Johnson County, Kansas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
24. Copyright complaints
If you believe something in InSync infringes your copyright, email insyncapp.help@gmail.com with a description of the work, where it appears in InSync, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't allowed. We'll look into it and remove content when appropriate.
25. General terms
- Assignment: you can't transfer these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer them, for example to a company we form or join, or as part of a sale or merger, and these Terms will keep applying.
- Severability: if any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- Entire agreement: these Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about InSync.
- No waiver: if we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Survival: the sections on disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law keep applying after you stop using InSync or delete your account.
